What is Cloud Armor?
Google Cloud Armor is the primary security layer protecting ecommerce sites hosted on the commercebuild platform. It runs on Google’s global edge network, stopping attacks before they ever reach your store.
By blocking malicious traffic at the edge, Cloud Armor helps keep your site fast, reliable, and available — even during large-scale attack events.
Why this is good for your store
Cloud Armor provides enterprise-grade protection without adding complexity:
-
Always-on DDoS protection
Automatically absorbs volumetric and protocol-level attacks. -
Edge-level filtering
Bad traffic is blocked close to its source, reducing load on your servers. -
Bot & fraud mitigation
Helps reduce credential stuffing, scraping, checkout bots, and carding attempts. -
Fully managed
Configuration, tuning, and monitoring are handled by Google and the commercebuild operations team.
You get the same defensive capabilities used by Google’s own services — with no hardware, plugins, or ongoing maintenance required.
How to Enable Cloud Armor on Your Site
Cloud Armor is available to all hosted commercebuild customers. Enabling it is a coordinated process to ensure a smooth transition with no downtime.
Step 1: Contact Support
Email support@commercebuild.com and let us know you’d like to enable Cloud Armor for your site.
Step 2: Internal Preparation
Our support team will coordinate with our systems team to ensure everything is ready on our side, including validating the correct load balancers for your hosting region.
No changes are required from you during this step.
Step 3: Update Your DNS Records
Once confirmed, you’ll be asked to update your domain’s DNS records to point to our Application Load Balancer (ALB).
Below is a reference table showing the correct ALB endpoints for each hosting region. Your support engineer will confirm exactly which record(s) to use.
DNS Targets by Hosting Region
| Hosting Region | ALB IP Address |
|---|---|
| North America (US) | 34.54.156.58 |
| Europe (EU) | 34.49.251.58 |
| Australia (AU) | 35.241.47.131 |
Important:
Always wait for confirmation from commercebuild support before making DNS changes. Using the wrong target or changing records prematurely can cause downtime.
